LG V30 and V30 Plus reportedly arriving on the same day for $700 and $875

We already knew that LG was preparing to launch the LG V30 at the end of the month. However, a report from Korean news outlet ETNews suggests that the device may arrive alongside another variant: the LG V30 Plus.

ETNews says the devices will be split into 64 GB and 128 GB versions (the Plus model presumably carrying the larger memory capacity) and may differ in their “audio system” and “wireless charging.”

The Plus model is likely to be the higher-end phone, so this would, by all accounts, be the device to launch with wireless charging and the better audio system. That said, it’s not exactly clear what is meant by audio system.

The V20 arrived with Quad-DAC audio support but rumors earlier this year suggested that the V30 would arrive with an upgraded Bang & Olufsen audio system. Will that be the case? Or will the B&O system only feature on the V30 Plus model? Or, would both devices have a B&O audio driver, but differ in their speakers, perhaps? For now, we can only speculate.

ETNews also claims that both the LG V30 and V30 Plus will be released on September 15 and that they will go on sale for the equivalent of around $700 and — get this — $875 respectively. This, reportedly, is part of LG’s new strategy to offer a broader range of options for consumers with its phones.

If those prices are accurate, this could mean it would cost $175 more to get an extra 64 GB of internal storage space, wireless charging and better audio; ETNews suggests that both phones will house the same display, processor, RAM, cameras, battery and IP68 rating.

Citing “representatives for mobile network providers” who have been hands-on with the devices, ETNews also said that the V30 series had been lauded for its “outstanding design” and “sense of grip.” This sense of grip was attributed to the devices having “drastically reduced thickness and a smooth screen through minimized bezel.”

Rounding off the speculation, ETNews reaffirmed previous specs rumors while adding that the phones would include 6 GB of RAM, 16 MP and 13 MP dual-camera sensors, and LG Pay support.
