Adventure Time Champions & Challengers brings real-time RPG fights to the Land of Ooo

With no less than seven games in the Play Store, Adventure Time might as well be its own game genre at this point. That list will only continue to grow with Champions & Challengers – Adventure Time.

Developed by YesGnome Games, in collaboration with Cartoon Network, Champions & Challengers features a story-based campaign that tasks you with rescuing Adventure Time characters kidnapped by the Dice Lord. You can rank them up as they are rescued over a stretch of 120 battles in 12 episodes, though the ability to also rank up character synergies will make you at least consider who is part of your team. All in all, there are over 70 characters to unlock, so at least the cast is diverse.

The team-building element lends itself to the game’s turn-based RPG battles in that you will face off against different character types. As such, you might not want to pick Finn for the sake of picking Finn – there is a bit of a tactical component to the battles.

If you get bored of playing Champions & Challengers‘s single-player component, the game also features a PvP Arena to face off against other players to improve your standing on the leaderboard. Finally, Champions & Challengers will feature live events from time to time, though the developer did not say what they entail.

Overall, Champions & Challengers looks to be another decent title that uses the Adventure Time license. Pricing information is unknown at this time, though the game will launch sometime this fall. In the meantime, you can pre-register at the link below.
